Interesting post on interviewing over at Words At Work
The best advice I can give a potential interviewee is to remain calm no matter what they through at you. Don’t get spooked by not knowing the answer to something or asking to repeat the questions. It’s OK to say “I don’t know and this is how I will figure it out.” In some cases, the question may have no answer. What the interviewer is trying to figure out how you deal with the unknown.
One of the techniques a former employer used was to do multi-person interviews. These interviews were solely meant to stress you out to see how you handle it. One candidate got so stressed out that he literately froze up. When I mean froze up, I mean blank stare. No communication at all. He just sat there and said “I don’t know”, over and over again. We had to talk him out of it. Yes, we decided to pass on him.
