The trend in US job growth is clearly moving away from manufacturing and toward more knowledge workers (See here for the data). I remember back in the 90′s when everyone was talking about the shift to a service economy and how that was bad. Well, this data seems to show a move to creative services instead of traditional services. I do think that creation and innovation is the only way to grow an economy but I also think the creation should be both ideas and things.
